Getting the right policy and guidance in place to become a Fertility Friendly Workplace

Our previous research in 2020 showed that 72% of organisations didn’t have a fertility policy in place and, of those who did, only 1.7% met peoples needs. This has no doubt progressed over the past 3 years as we’ve seen from the work we do, but we are far from our aim of all workplaces being fertility friendly.
Policy or guidance is often the very first place employees will look to find out whether or not their situation will be supported by their employer, it’s an important ‘signal’ and their very first impression of support in their workplace.
With so many different people affected, all with varying paths to parenthood, it’s so important to get this right and to ensure that it is inclusive. As part of National Fertility Awareness Week we’ve launched our ‘Ideal Policy Guidance’ as a free download for all employers to provide our tips and the framework needed to get this right.
Policy (and/or guidance) is the foundation for your fertility support at work.
It isn’t solely a ‘women’s issue’ as this picture highlights, this is a people issue. Fertility Matters at Work has not only a great deal of personal experience of these issues, but also a wealth of HR experience too, ensuring we are best placed to approach this topic both from an individual and business perspective.
