This award celebrates employers who have made fertility inclusion a genuine priority, proving that you don’t need a large HR team, a big budget, or a dedicated wellbeing function to make a real difference to the people who work for you. If you’ve shown creativity, heart, and commitment to supporting employees through fertility challenges, this award is for you. Helen Burgess
Employment Lawyer
Read bio
Helen specialises in employment law and HR advisory work. Helen went through IVF to have her first daughter and was acutely aware of the taboo around discussing the subject in the workplace. She was fortunate to have been in a senior position at the time with the autonomy to control her diary and to have supportive colleagues – but there was no policy in place at her then employer. On her return to work Helen instigated the implementation of a policy, advised on its contents, spoke out about her experience and encouraged others to do so. Alongside the policy, she assisted her then employer in creating a dedicated fertility support page on their intranet. When Helen moved to Gateley Legal she did the same and helped her firm implement its own fertility policy. Helen has worked with Fertility Matters at Work and has spoken at webinars on the employment law aspects of fertility in the workplace. She is also a member of the Workplace Fertility Working Group which is campaigning for time off from work to undergo fertility treatment. She is committed to raising awareness and encouraging employers to create a supportive environment for employees who may be dealing with fertility issues.

Ian Stones
Co-founder of testhim
Read bio
I’m Ian, one of the co-founders of testhim alongside Michael Close and Toby Trice. Together, we’re on a mission to change the way men think about and approach their fertility and overall health.
My background has been in fertility support for many years, and throughout that time it became quite clear just how neglected men are in this space, that’s why we created testhim. Fertility is so often seen as a ‘women’s issue’, but the reality is that men matter just as much, they just don’t get the same attention, guidance or care. That’s really what drives us: helping men understand their fertility, giving them access to the right information, the right tests, and the support they need to make empowered choices.
At testhim, we’ve built a platform that’s all about raising awareness, improving education, providing advanced fertility testing, and making proper support accessible to men. Whether it’s through our free questionnaire, comprehensive testing, or partnerships with leading fertility experts and clinics, everything we do is designed to break the stigma and get men the help they deserve.
